Amber Ozuna, Intern

Hello, my name is Amber Ozuna. I'm 29 years old, from New York, and I relocated to Louisiana. I'm a first-generation graduate.

In my counseling work, I practice IFS and CBT. That means I help clients talk to the different parts inside themselves — the critic, the protector, the wounded one — while also building real tools to shift the thoughts that keep them stuck.

Most of my clients are Black and BIPOC, so I pay attention to culture, family expectations, and the exhaustion of having to be strong — because I've lived that too. I've spent years in mental health and sitting with grieving families.

The short answer to who I am is that I'm a strong, determined, and highly motivated individual. I've been called patient and hard-working. I'm always willing to learn, even when something is new to me.

I'm passionate about learning and education. Highly organized and respectful of others. Summa Cum Laude and dean's list recipient. Hard-working and detail-oriented. Advocate for human rights and disability rights.

What I've learned is that people don't need fixing. They need someone who can be present, direct, and patient without running when it gets hard.
