Cecile Walters Trotter, LMSW

“Supporting the transitions that shape who we become.”

Cecile Walters Trotter, LMSW, works primarily with women navigating the complicated middle years of adulthood—a season that can bring profound changes in identity, relationships, family roles, and sense of purpose.

For many women, midlife arrives after decades spent building a life around the needs of others: raising children, nurturing a marriage, building a career, managing a household, or caring for aging parents. Then something shifts. Children leave home. Menopause symptoms begin. A marriage that has revolved around family needs to find its footing again. Caregiving becomes overwhelming. Or life simply begins to feel different, prompting bigger questions, "Who am I now? What do I want? What do I want the second half of my life to look like?"

Cecile creates space for women to explore those questions with curiosity rather than judgment. Her areas of focus include midlife transitions, grief and loss, caregiver and general burnout, identity and purpose, and sexual health and intimacy. She is particularly interested in helping clients examine what still fits, what no longer does, and how they want to live the years ahead with greater intention.

Clients describe Cecile as warm, insightful, and disarmingly real. Her approach combines empathy and curiosity with a grounded, pragmatic style. She is comfortable with the conversations people sometimes struggle to have elsewhere about loss, resentment, exhaustion, desire, changing relationships, aging, identity, and the fear that somewhere along the way they may have lost touch with themselves.

Before becoming a therapist, Cecile spent years accompanying individuals and families through grief and loss as a licensed funeral director and grief professional. That experience shaped both her comfort with difficult conversations and her belief that looking honestly at where we have been can help us decide where we want to go next.

Cecile earned both her Master of Social Work and Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University and is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Her clinical interests center on the transitions that shape adulthood and the opportunity they can provide to reconnect with identity, relationships, meaning, and purpose.

At the heart of Cecile’s work is a simple idea: the second half of life doesn’t have to be an afterthought. It can be lived with intention.
