Dorothea Altorfer Morra, Intern
Sometimes life brings challenges that we feel unable to tackle alone. When what we are doing is holding us back and causing stress instead of contributing to a fulfilling life, when we are stuck in repeating patterns or past experiences counseling can offer a space where to explore our deepest thoughts and questions and build new perspectives.
I take a holistic and eclectic approach to counseling because human beings are inherently complex. We are not only rational, but also emotional, relational, creative, sensual, and spiritual. Meaningful change requires integrating these different aspects of the self. There is no single way to solve problems, and no one therapeutic method fits every person. Each situation can be understood from multiple perspectives, and what we often need is greater flexibility in how we think, feel, and act. Growth involves developing new ways of seeing and also new ways of relating to ourselves and to others.
My background includes experience with movement-based and creative modalities, as well as extensive work with children. I am currently a graduate student and counseling intern, working with clients of all ages and presenting concerns such as depression, life transitions, self-worth, relationship challenges, anxiety, burnout, abuse, and trauma. Having lived in several countries, I bring a multicultural perspective and welcome clients from all backgrounds. I am fluent in English, Italian, and German.
